How we make money
WildToSea earns a small commission on some links, at no extra cost to you. We only point to gear and tours we'd actually use on the ground in Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Our promise
WildToSea is free to read and always will be. Some of our links are affiliate links — if you book a tour or buy a product through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That is how we keep the site running.
What it never does is change what we recommend. We only point to gear we'd actually pack and tours we'd
actually send a friend on. Where something isn't worth it, we say so. Affiliate links are marked
rel="sponsored" and open in a new tab, and you'll always see a notice before any of them.
Programs we use include Amazon Associates, GetYourGuide, and Booking.com.
Who runs WildToSea (and our independence)
WildToSea is published by Tim Hennig, who also runs Boutique-Hotel Matlai on Zanzibar's east coast. We say so openly: where we recommend Matlai, we tell you it's the author's own hotel — every time. It's one option among several, and we'll point you elsewhere when another place fits you better (a different coast, budget, or style).
Our guides are also written with real, named local contributors — guides, instructors and business owners who actually live and work here. When a contributor's own business is mentioned, that relationship is stated plainly. We never invent authors or fake reviews.
In short: real people, honest trade-offs, disclosed relationships. If we wouldn't tell a friend to do it, we won't tell you.
